Why would you want to do anything with that red meaty organ that comes slivering out after your precious little baby?
When my best friend introduced me to this idea of ingesting my placenta, I thought she was loony!! I said “EEWW,” why would I want to do that?
Like a good best friend does, she didn’t just tell me her opinion, she shared some links for me to form my own opinion. They are listed below. So I said, what the heck, why not just give it a try? What is the worse that can happen?
Well that wonderful best friend of mine, took my placenta home from the hospital in a Tupperware bowl and placed it in her fridge while I was shacked up at the hospital. A few days later, she sent me texts of the process happening in her home while I was happily lying around nursing my new little girl. She then brought them over for me. She explained to keep them either in the fridge or a cool dark space and to consume up to three a day depending on my level of energy and need for milk production.
I started taking them immediately and was so pleased with the outcome. I had the energy to take care of my little girl and my older boy. My milk production was fantastic. I was able to pump to have bottles for when I returned to work. I did not have any negative feelings or baby blues. I just on cloud nine. My pills lasted about three months. I took two a day for a couple weeks and just went to once daily. Each placenta renders a different amount of pills depending on its size.
My best friend then did her own placenta a few months later and even made a placenta tincture. A tincture can be used after 6 weeks or even saved until menopause to help even out hormones. What is a tincture you ask? It is a sliver of placenta placed in 100 proof alcohol. It then prolongs the benefits of the hormones. The tincture can be used in any time of trauma, transition, emotional distress and during menopause to ease your symptoms. You place up to 10 drops in juice or even a cup of tea and enjoy the benefits.
All of the items above are available. Breathe Birth Services also offers placenta prints. These are done on a canvas for you to enjoy your little ones tree of life forever! Your cord will be preserved in either a heart or the word love depending on the size.
